Welcome to my World

Welcome to my little corner of the vast God planned domain. I plan to share mostly my card projects here, you might even possible see some scrapping, quilt projects, and photography. Who knows I may even try other other craft projects. I am also going to share a selection of little recipe cards I have collected over the past few years - scrapped, of course. There may even be some little things of greatness of my daily life. Every now and then, I might even vent!

Seems Like Ages...

Since I lasted posted. Last weekend was filled to the brim with wedding planning. I worked 7 hours last Friday and then drove for 6 hours to Seattle area. Saturday my daughter and I went to the Bridal Fair for almost 4 hours. So many people and so many ideas. Took in lots tho, got a $50 certificate towards a dress and order the cupcakes for the reception. Then went to David's Bridal and purchased the dress. She will be beautiful. On to Michael's' to buy more flowers and such. Sunday was church, on to the ferry across the Puget Sound to go meet her future in laws. On the way stopped and purchased fabric for a quilt. His family is a hoot to be with, had a great time. Monday we went to check out the venue since I had already paid for it sight unseen on my part, her and Matt had been there before. It is a wonderful old opera house used almost every weekend for wedding. By the time I got back to Spokane after 6 more hours on the road I was exhausted. Good thing I did not have to work Tuesday so I rested, got a hair cut and went shopping for myself this time.

Since I have been home I got my monthly swap group cards from SCS completed:

My plans today are to start making wedding invitations, do some blogging and get caught up on some swaps. Thanks for looking.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

WOW What an awesome last 4 days we have had. The best Christmas so far in mhy life. My daughter, Christina and intended Matt arrived Tuesday afternoon to a very chilly Spokane Valley. Matt is not shy at all. Starting joking and telling us about himself right at the airport. Went to lunch at her favorite hamburger joint. After dark went to Couer d'alene ID to see the Christmas light on the boardwalk at the Huge Hagadone hotel there. What a beautiful sight but darn near froze my tush. Came home to a great pot roast dinner. Lots of laughing and chatting all the time.

Wed Christina and I spent 3 hours at the bridal store. She tried on several dresses but never really fell in love with any of them. I guess that happens when you are a little overweight. The place was so busy and lots of tall slender model type girls in there trying lots of dresses. She did find one she may use but not sure yet. While we were gone we sent the boys grocery shopping and to borrow some chair from the church. That evening we had 24 house guest (friends of her's and our's) to meet Matt. What a hoot. We have such a small house and we were all crammed into the living, dining rooms and kitchen. Lots of food was devoured also. Was a good time by all as several of them live out of town and were home for the holidays.

Thursday was just kind of a kick back day. She and I started craftng wedding invitations, save the date cards, party favors and the likes. We hnad such a good time while the guys chatted awhile and then took naps. Later that afternoon my son Eric arrived and we had lots of story swapping, poor Christina. Not sure Matt knows what he is getting into. Went to Christmas eve services, only afterwards to have a pot of homemade noodles from the recipe my grandmother passed to me. The whole pot of chicken and noodles was devoured in no time at all. Watched some TV, joked and had more stories to tell about each other.

Today it is Christmas and we finally opened gifts about noon. Everyone is very pleased with waht we received. Very greatful to all have jobs and able to bless each other with gifts. More wedding planning, kids off to see some friends and Dan is in the kitchen making pies. I do not even have to do a large Christmas dinner as the kids said I have already done enough for them this week so we are having burgers and salad. YEAH easy.

Christina and Matt leave for Dallas TX tomorrow at 5:30 in order for her to meet his parents and have their Christmas together. I think I will sleep the rest of the day after I get home as they need to be at the airport about 4 am. But we were so blessed this Christmas with a future son-in-law and I am so pleased with what we have met and seen so far. Even did the dishes most of the time.

Thanks for listening to my Christmas story. May God bless you all today and forever.

MISS THIS BLOGGING

Oh my goodness, I have been so overwhelmed latedly. Right after my last post started a whirlwind of things and emotions. We decided to paint and carpet our bedroom so started to tear everything apart and to have delay after delay. I got the flu and was out of comission for 3 days, missing 1 day of work. Next to weeks I am trying to play catch up. working in the house in the evening when possible. Well the day before Thanksgiving I had plan to paint the room and have it ready for dcarpet on Tues. followed by a trip to Montana to celebrate dad's 90th. Well instead Dan says I need to go to the emergency room. 7 hours later they finally decide he has meningitis and will be hospitalized for 3-4 days. Ok , so he is in the hospital, I cannot paint by muself due to back issues and what I am going to do about the part I have planned. Well clean more house, had dinner at his cousins, spent some time at the hospital with Dan. While at the hospital I get a phone call from my daughter telling me she is engaged. I am so excited I can hardly talk. She and Matt are coming home for Christmas. Well on Friday Dan gets discharged by a Dr he has never seen before and says he would rather be home by himself than there.

So I drag him home and Eric, my son, and I head to Montana on Sat for Thanksgiving dinner and the party Sunday. Had all kinds of people checking on Dan hourly. The 90the party was absolutely fabulous and my son and I had a couple of great visits during those 3 hour drives. Missed another day of work Monday not feeling well and this definitely was not a day to miss work at the end of the month with the Federal Special Ed count. Oh well. Then played catch up all month of Dec. I actually finished the piles yesterday. just in time for my 2 week vacation.

Well, the following weekend Dan is still pretty sick and sleeps all the time so I hired a girlfriend to pain the room, accomplished in 5 hours - ceiling and all 4 walls. Carpet then arrived on Thursday. Friday Eric takes me to Lion King - he and sister bought the tickets for my birthday so another evening of house work shot. Oh darn, I would not have missed the play for anything. Then I have been trying to do baking rearrange things in this house for another guest and decorate in the meatime.

Today I am putting up the tree and finishing the decoration this weekend. Monday I an planning to get the extra bedroom dug out so Matt has a place to sleep and the scrapbook room floor emptied for her or her brother on cushions and the on the sofa. Tuesday I will go to the dentist, come home and be sure everything is in order and make some homemade noodles. Go to the airport at 1:30 to pick up daughter and soon to be son-in-law. I think we will be doing some wedding planning also during the four days they are home. Wed evening we are having a little meet and greet Mat and engagement party so will be getting ready for that during the day. She also want to check out a wedding dress shop that day. Hopefully Thurs and Fri will be pretty quiet for us with maybe a friend or two dropping in. They are leaving on Sat at 5:30 am for Dallas to meet his parents.

Now do you see any reason I have not had time to post and do much crafting lately. Do need to get a couple of swap group cards out before the end of the month so may post them. soon.,

Merry Christmas to all - Jesus is the Reason for the Season -and a very Blessed and Happy New year.

Very Productive Saturday

Yesterday was my once a month gathering with the scrapbook gals with our Creative Memories consultant fried. This card was one for a punchart challenge. I did not want to do the ordinary punchart so I decided to do a multi-layered card using lot of scraps and a variety of border punches. Added a little sentiment line from Heart from the Heart SU stamp set. Love this set, is so grat most any occassion.
Another swap card that needed to used the SCS204 layout. Also used a lot of little scraps and came up with this. Added a brown silk bow and the Season of Joy stamp set.
The third swap I did yesterday was a 3 dimensional challenge. I used Specialty packaged buttons, removed the shanks and used glue dot to attach. Add a polka dot red silk ribbon. Most of my swap cards right now are with a Christmas theme. Love this time of the year.
The last article I completed were these box. I know the picture is not great but did not want to take the binder off of them at this time as there are 24 total. I made 12 yesterday. They are really easy and quick. The are individually wrapped with a 2x12 piece of DP that has Christmas wordson it. Then the top was covered with another DP that coordinated. Put together with a brad a felt leaf set and some poinsettias petals. They will then be filled with candy and nuts for all of my office mates. $ sets of boxes worked out great as there are 25 in our office and so I made 24.

Also made a set of 8 cards like the photo card below for a girl at work that ordered them once she saw the sample. Going to make another set or two of these for Christmas gifts. Will be my way of giving souveniers from our Summer Vacation.

After I got home I watched the Gonzaga Bulldogs beat Mississippi Valley in the season opener. GO BULLDOGS!! Tomorrow I plan to complete my Yahoo owned group swaps for the year so they will just have to be put in the mail when due. Watch for another post tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.

I sometimes like to incorporate my pictures onto cards. They make great note cards to use as a gift. This was taken on our trip to the Grand Canyon this past July. What a beautiful creation of our wonderful GOD. I also used the negative pieces from the big note I used on some other cards last month. Thanks for looking

Happy Thanksgiving

This is my Thanksgiving card I made for this year. Really liked the stamp set. I did not do much for stamping last weekend and will not this weekend either. Was on the computer all day Saturday working on genealogy. My cousin and I are swapping info left and right, having lots of fun. Hope you enjoy the card. Hoe to get some more stuff done tonight as I have a couple of swaps to get mailed tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

Monday, November 2, 2009

I needed a card for a swap titled Antique it. This is the card I can up with. Used velumn, wrinkled it, dabbed with ink and smeared that, then tore the edges. Was fun to do and surprised how well it turned out.
